Between then and now- Copyright Robert Fullarton 2013
Between
then and now
The love
has well
And truly
left me
All birds
migrate
A hollow
tree
Unfruitful
forests
In the
bellowing
Cries
Of the
smoky lit
Cities
Between
then and now
the sky
Has fallen
in
Time and
rent
Couldn’t
built
A humble
tent
For a
strained mind
In a mad
time
The modern
rhyme
Goes on and
on
Forever
Until all
nations
Fall asleep
The bitten
pockets
Of my
winter coat
Are shreds
In the face
Of
swaggering costumes
And gowns
As the town
Booms
You sick birds
of the poison tree
have you not devoured
the sickness
that takes the artist whole
and total
he gazes on and on
into the infinite sky away
from present storms
Love speaks out again
from the hungry storm
Take me from the room
of mourning
to the mountains of joy
between then and now.....
from now to eternity...
deliver us to hope!
You sick birds
of the poison tree
have you not devoured
the sickness
that takes the artist whole
and total
he gazes on and on
into the infinite sky away
from present storms
Love speaks out again
from the hungry storm
Take me from the room
of mourning
to the mountains of joy
between then and now.....
from now to eternity...
deliver us to hope!
