Why do we more than often give a person's physical appearance so much credence over the intellectual, emotional and -I will also say- spiritual nature of the person. More than often such attractions are not compatible when based solely on physical appearance. You cannot sustain a burning candle that simply melts away from the wick down, but you can empower a mutual desire that is shared in two persons, in such cases it becomes a harmony, like a song that transforms into a duet. True relationships are on a deep, knowledge of the two persons involved and truly to love a person, one must know the other on an intimate basis. Meaning cannot be achieved on selfish terms, that flee, die out after coital encounters and treat the other as a mere object of self-desire. A fully grown relationship, transforms into an intricate understanding, it converses and hits the target without missing the mark. True love stripped bare of social pretensions, plays no games, wares no masks, is honest and refreshing in the face of much insincerity and bluff. But this has become a rarity in the rough and the pot-marked world we live in. True love has to overcome the lies of the world to be what it was made to be, in God's great plan for all things

The Moral Compass -By Robert Fullarton 2016

The Moral Compass

-By Robert Fullarton
2016

Its an absolute outrage that these gangsters are out walking through the city centre for this horrible funeral where these mafioso can laugh and mock the police and the law abiding public!! Its an absolute disgrace these men on the lowest rung of the social order can be allowed so much amenity and room to operate!! What a tragic thing is this "farce" we call a legal system, the country is being taken over with these republican sympathisers/criminals and these different gangs! Why aren't there marches against gang violence, drug epidemics, ineffective policing, changing the legal system (in making it more effective for deterring crime) so the rights of the victims are in preference to the identity of the criminal!

How dare Gerry Adams speak about abolishing the Special Criminal Courts, which have helped to process and detain the infamous Dundon gang of Limerick. The judicial powers for tackling crime on such a mass scale are not to be removed or lessened on non-sensical charges or excuses from a very controversial and a shady character from our history of republican violence. If this threadbare, piecemeal, fragile legal system were to be torn asunder once more for reconstruction, then we might see the final deconstruction of our passive and misrepresented society. These are all part and parcel of a legalistic, weak, in effective, liberal society. If anyone states a word against say a traveller the word "racist" (of course this is ludicrous to make!) is used to make association to the overwhelming evidence that many travellers are involved in crimes right across the entire spectrum! So much legal precedence, so much hypocrisy, covers the whole legal and political system! Why must so much time be given to the seemingly perpetual moans against the water tax! Why are we so passive on issues that are more deep, far reaching, sinister and lasting, concerning the safety and morality of our society and the city we live in. Man's nature and man's face bares the identity of a brutality that all or anyone can potentially become part of, for our nature, as history has shown, on any level, bares the stamp of a badness that is universal. Without the mention of a spiritual dimension to this, there is no answer, no finality, no cure, but force to measure force, weapon for weapon, to frighten man from his own desires! I do not put my faith in political parties, socialism (history exposed it as a horrible man made utopia), nationalism, republicanism, humanism, the human rights religion, legalism or conservatism.

But I do put my faith in Jesus Christ, as I am a Christian, for all my failings and weaknesses. For our drama is but part and parcel of a greater picture for which we are travelling through, we live in chaos as it is, do we not want it to be any different? Do we not want to know what a relationship with God might be like? Our secular society has given great comforts and privileges to our generation, but made it into a self-serving, legalistic, civilization that is dying out culturally and becoming a vacuous relativistic sham! I dont mean to preach, but what we are seeing on our streets, growing nationally and throughout Europe can be seen in the psychology of the people and the nation, it all comes out in our behaviour. Removing Christianity and reducing the powers of law, order, charity etc to mere passive ethical codes, comes about when man has no definite direction, no belief in the absolute. When the moral compass has been shattered there are only vague directions and guesses made by the many, we as a civilization, move in every direction other than to the harmony of God's governance.

I am basically stating that people need to be saved from themselves because of the badness in human nature. Without absolutes, whether it be government, law, morality and especially in recognising our duty to God, we live in a fragmented society, that is more about self-serving desires, points of petty law, we fall into the vices of our human nature and fail to reach the potential of which we were originally created for. The western citizen is no longer in a heaven centred life, but we cannot keep our morality if we loose the identity and loose sight of its origins, which was and is rooted in the deeds and actions of the Judeo-Christian faith- in the person of Jesus Christ. Life is no longer seen as sacred but as something to be exploited in which we are objects for manipulation. Shallow ethical codes will NEVER replace a faith that is based on metaphysical and supernatural power, proof and love.

Reminiscing on an old Friend - by Robert Fullarton copyright 2016

Reminiscing on an old Friend

-by Robert Fullarton

Today I was just reminiscing of days gone by, from another chapter in my life. I remember a friend of mine, a man who encouraged me through a transitional period, who shared his story with me, who helped me come to terms with my human weaknesses and sowed seeds of faith in my heart that were essential to my rediscovery of Christianity. We both worked together, we took time on our breaks to share stories and to laugh, to banter and we even prayed together when we were not working. There were many people at this particular period in my life (and I certainly know them all in my heart and mind and credit them honourably) who were of immense benefit to my rediscovery of my lapsed faith, they were people who gave me time in moments of great fear and pain, who advised me when I most needed advice and befriended me, when I was an outsider looking inside.

I want to talk specifically about one man (as an example) who changed me, who changed himself internally, who was a prime example of what God can do the human life when it surrenders its proud shell or resistance and agrees to change (the surrender of the heart is the release of the “iron weights” that bind one’s soul to a stubborn pride, the moment after a heart filled submission we are joyfully immersed in a moment that allows God into our life).

When I first entered the workplace, I was quite confused about my faith and about my identity. I had filled my life with wishy-washy new age religion, with a mix of many philosophies, I would read just about any book to increase my knowledge, I had dwindled in my spiritual faith and I had neglected the moral duties that went with it. I believe that I was hanging out with the wrong crowd, that my attitude was completely wrong and that I had at times behaved rather badly. I was angry with God after I had suffered a severe nervous breakdown. I had gone back and forth to doctors; I had tried every type of therapy, relaxation and medication, (often all at once) and had not discovered the “elixir of life” that would restore my nervous system to its natural setting. I had foolishly thought that God was uncaring or that he was not the God that I had thought him to be, as he let these catastrophes happen to me “apparently without caring or interceding.” But I look back now and I can see with a wide angled lens on this picture that God is not to be confined to the “box of our limitations” and he is more powerful than we can imagine, Christ is greater than we can imagine. The limitations of man’s faith, determination and imagination can be a terrible shortfall or roadblock to the power and potential that he can untap within our lives.

God sent people into my life, they extracted my confessions, they brought out the pain, the fear and the joy in me, the moments were intense, passionate, alive and the definition of the reality that God powers behind the facade of the world. Oh my I can tell you that each man’s work will be tested in the fire, as the saying goes, and indeed each man’s heart will be put to the test over the rough and tumble Christian race to the end. Ours is the standard of God’s love, God’s nature that we hold high for all to see and we seek continual change. The mystery and majesty behind the situation is that we are transformed from within like sculptures from a God that is shaping our internal lives into a perfection akin to his son, through pain, through rejection, through high’s and emotional lows we go, but we are always stronger, wiser, deeper individuals and with a character that has been stamped with the divine seal.

Yes, life was not what we thought it was, it is a hard life, a life of tests, for enduring cruel realities and it is much more brutal than perhaps our beginning, and like the Israelites that wandered through the desert we too can become disillusioned and state that the promised land is beyond our hopes of being fulfilled, we can lose faith, courage and goodness and even be tempted back to the weaknesses and compromises of the old life we lived before our covenant with God was sealed. But why would we want to go back to an utterly inferior existence that looks shallow and meaningless in the face of the life that offers eternity, that is sealed in love, in personal union with the God the world does not know and still detests.

The man I am writing about shared his story with me, his is a story of transition, of change and transformation as an example of what God can do with each human being. Every human wants to be known by name and to be loved beyond imagination. I remember his conversion (I know now that every Christian must be born again, must repent, confess and come to know Jesus Christ, must change and be tenderised in both soul and heart, to become like Christ himself) he told me of his former battle with alcohol, minor drug problems, anger, relational problems and character flaws. When I was weak he held me up, when he was weak, I helped to hold him up, it was God who worked through us, the conversations would flow, the transformations continued within us both. I see in him today, a man who has been blessed, with a loving wife, the blessings of children, good friends, happily employed, a man who has witnessed and lifted up drug addicts, the sick, the homeless and the elderly. I am happy to call him my friend and my do I miss his company, in the twists and turns of this strange and tremendous struggle of life. With grace we live and endure through the countless knocks, blows, let-downs, put-downs and weaknesses that come against us on our ever harsh run to God.

On Modern Elitism - By Robert Fullarton Copyright Robert Fullarton 2016

On Modern Elitism

-By Robert Fullarton
Copyright Robert Fullarton 2016

I see the UN is trying to force a general compliance with abortion from the Irish government and is putting pressure on them to legislate and legalise it for "all situations". I have realised over the past few years and increasingly come to know that the EU, the UN, Amnesty international etc (these elite bodies of power that supposedly speak on behalf of the majority) are the whitewashed, hypocritical machine of modern elitism that are ruining and destroying the cultural and moral identity that has been in place for generations. These bodies of power are undemocratic, they use passive techniques to cajole or bully governments and assuade public opinion to their belief system. I call it the "religion of human rights" its a secular, humanist belief system that the "rights" of certain peoples must be upholded against all opposition and ultimately silenced. Men may declare themselves to be "atheists" but the religious state and outreach for worship continues with another object or idol and in this case its the legalistic religion of human rights. I dont understand how anyone can ideologically believe in a world of laws without a law giver, a series of instructions, amending ideals and hyperbole without a foundation or meaning behind the whole facade. It was the same with the Bolsheviks of Russia, you see the western "religion of human rights" is just a weak ethical code, focusing on the "individualism" of the modern life, but full of bigotry for those who dont fall into line with what is written on paper. Ask yourself is there any meaning to this ethical code or is to merely a hollow facade?

This new religion takes bits and pieces of the judeo-Christian faith/tradition and replaces it with what is currently popular or rather the ideals of state socialism. We are living in the Roman world revived where the state was the supreme power, that dictated to peoples lives, controlled it through legislation and unfortunately created the state church, a weak puppet institution that complied and acquiesced to the facade of the state. Today I see and hear from many people, who are vehemently opposed to such bodies and organisations, who know and state that the opponents of such decree holders, petitions, self-righteous charities etc are denied freedom of speech and are silenced. We are living in a time of bureaucratic, judicial and ideological oppression. I have read many articles and researched how there are numerous accounts of those female victims of migrant crimes were covered up and denied justice (such crimes were often hidden behind political motives and reach the governments and ultimately the EU itself. The removal of religious teaching from school curriculums will become a supranational reality soon and public displays of faith (especially for Christians) will be prohibited. What is sought is not diversity, but in reality, uniformity, because the powers of Europe what to create a society where human identity and belief are centralised into a bureaucratic elite of bodies.

Human identity is not recognised in the state of laws one creates but in the heart of the person! I have read from a few newspapers over the past few years that the term race or ethnic group is being sought to be abolished, so as to remove distinction. Such ideas are like an insane fantasy, straight out of a Franz Kafka novel! Likewise with this enforcement of abortion sought, we can move the lines of morality and stretch them further until our terrain has become unrecognisable and we can cry the shibboleth of "our rights" or rather we can follow the pied piper of the Eurocrats into a unrecognisable madness and state that that my rights are more responsible than those of the vulnerable, the exposed and ultimately the unborn. As Solzhenitsyn stated "you in the west are ready to lay claim to your rights, but are ready to forget your moral responsibilities." Our society is the hybrid offspring of the Marxist belief system (ironically called Capitalist Marxism) and it is just as violently anti-Christian as say the Leninist society, but in more subtle and persuasive methods of corrosion
