IF I were a modern man
-Robert Fullarton Copyright 2014
If I were a
modern man
I would
lock my heart
In the
metropolis
Of cold
stone
Street gazes
And frozen
human
Company
Like trees
in a boundless forest
Cold blooded
tundra
People far and few
close and far
light struggles
to permeate the forest floor
But I am
not
There are people
you will never know
even photos
tells lies
to the eyes of lonely men
If I were a
bird
I’d soar
above the grey
Of pallid
office blocks
And boring
traffic stops
And laugh
At every
manacle
And chain
Of human
coldness
